Thank You Lord!

Been a rough week this week. Maybe it was by design that the second to last week before the 1/2 I would have to struggle like I did this week. Maybe it was so I would appreciate the good days more. Today would be one of those good days.

Heather and I pushed off this morning for our final “long run” (8 miles) before the race next weekend. The temps were cool and borderline cold with the wind at your face. We decided to just go out 4 on the bike trail and then come back. That was a good call today. Breathing was 100% better then the other night when I went out. Heather talked about it in her last post, but I too went out in the rain for “a quick 3”. Bad idea. I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. It was just brutal.

So to go out this morning with my partner by my side and put up miles of 8:15 and 8:16 to start the run was awesome! We pounded out mile after mile and even had some to spare to “kick it in” for the last mile (7:54). Thank you Lord for this run this morning. Honestly. You don’t understand what that does for me mentally. As we go out this week for a few quick runs to stay sharp for our half, it feels good knowing that the last long run was so comfortable. My chest and breathing felt 100% better this morning. Can’t stress how nice it was to have that relief.

So on we go. One week until our next milestone. Then we have a few months before our next half marathon in Charlotte (December 12th). Before I forget, it was AWESOME to share the run this morning with my wife. This is the perfect time of year to see the colors of fall. Even for a guy that is color blind. It was beautiful this morning. The sky and the colors of fall all mixed together like a painting. Again, thank you Lord. You are the master artist.

On the journey…..
